What is Equine Centered Counseling?
Facilitated by healing professionals Katie Browning and Michelle Kaye, Equine Centered Counseling strengthens one’s self-awareness by accessing our natural body/mind connection through relationship with horses.
Using the principles of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and conscious horseback riding, Equine Centered Counseling opens the door to the healing process in a unique way. Therefore, either from the ground or in the saddle - with our horses or with yours - by combining these two modalities you will:
- Experience greater mind/body awareness
- Feel a stronger connection with self
- Overcome obstacles and habitual behaviors
- Gain healthy communication skills
- Learn tools for stress relief and relaxation
- Using a unique combination of conscious riding practices and Centered Riding™ principles, Equine Centered Counseling helps clients to access their physical selves through learning anatomical body awareness, breathwork, balance, healthy communication, and by fostering a deeper, more meaningful relationship with the horse. (for more information about Centered Riding, see Katie Browning's Bio and visit www.centeredriding.org).
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy accesses our emotional and mental aspects of self by experientially incorporating horses in the counseling process for healing and growth, on the ground as well as in the saddle.
Equine Centered Counseling addresses challenges for people of any age, experienced and inexperienced riders alike, such as:
- Self-Esteem

Please note: Residents of the Sivy Family Farm also include dogs, goats, geese, chickens, peacocks, frogs, and other wildlife; since this is their home, please do not bring your dogs or other pets with you. The Sivy dogs are very friendly and wonderful with adults and children alike, and will give you a friendly and welcoming bark as you come into the drive. If you are allergic to dogs or are fearful of dogs, please let us know in advance. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
